Monarch Honored by Governor’s Council on Fitness

The Monarch Cement Company is pleased to be recognized by the state of Kansas for its contributions to fitness over the last year. The Company was honored at the 2019 Kansas Health Champion awards on Jan. 24 at the Community Health Promotion Summit in Manhattan in the “Organizational Health Champion” category.

The awards were presented by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and Candice McField of the Governor’s Council on Fitness to “recognize and promote exemplary contributions to fitness in Kansas.”

The City of Emporia was recognized as Organizational Honorable Mention. Individual honorees included Pastor Adrion Roberson, Kansas City, Kansas (Individual Health Champion) and Jody Hoener, Fort Scott, Kansas (Individual Honorable Mention).

The agency looked at a variety of eligible nominees, including volunteers, communities, schools, employers, media organizations and policy makers that have done an effective job of encouraging and modeling fitness to Kansas residents.
